Summer is almost over!

Have you received your letters about orientation for the 2016-17 school year yet? Do you know what that means? Yeah, school may be closing in, but Betas, there's still plenty of time left to earn summer service hours. Whether you're signing up for inside service opportunities (see calendar for info) or performing work in our community (2016-17 outside hour form available under Service Info tab), you have several options to make a difference!

Although I was not able to attend the national convention in New Orleans this June, I hope that the ROHIBETA members who did had a fantastic experience. I can't wait to hear about it at our first meeting; in fact, this year we'll hold a convention night in early October for parents and members to discuss costs, competitions, and more for both 2017 state and national conventions. These are great events where our members can compete, meet Betas from all over South Carolina and the nation, we can grow stronger as a club. We'll also begin recruiting for the National Beta Club leadership summit (aka Great Wolf Lodge trip) in early September.

Please take a minute to check out our service calendar. We've made some changes to help you earn all requirements to stay an active member, using codes for events, charity drives, and fundraisers to help Betas plan and serve. We'll begin recruiting during advisory on Friday, August 19. Advisory teachers will have letters for suspension, academic probation, renewal, return, and new membership. If you have any questions about membership, please contact either Mrs. Tucker or Mrs. Spevak for more information.

Finally, I'd like to congratulate Mrs. Spevak (formerly Ms. Henderson), our new club sponsor, on her wedding earlier this month. I'd also like to congratulate Skylar Groves, our 2016 John W. Harris leadership award winner; she'll attend the National Beta Club leadership camp in Greenville, TN, starting tomorrow. Betas, enjoy the rest of your summer and be safe!
