Let’s Fall into this year’s Beta season!
Former
President of the United States of America Barack Obama once said, “The best way
to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things
to happen to you. If you go out there and make good things happen, you will
fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.” So ask yourself Betas,
what are you doing for others? Are you making a positive change in your
community and in the lives of others? I’ve learned that there is a difference
between successful people and others. It is not the lack of strength or of
knowledge, but rather a lack of will.
Earlier
this month we attended the 2017 Leadership Summit at Great Wolfe Lodge. We
brought back more trophies for Rock Hill High. Congratulations to Jenna Shaefer,
Reina McCullough, Sydney Bonaparte, Madison Reed, Nicole Freeman, Reem Hassan,
Jada Brown, Maiyanna McDaniel, Sharisse McPhail for all their dedication and hard
work. We ladies took home the win for Rapid Response and Lead Outside the Box.
In addition, our chapter vice-president Reina was chosen as a National Beta
Club leadership representative candidate to represent us at state and national conventions
this year and next year’s leadership summit. These ladies learned how to be
better leaders, network, and provide others with an understanding of what’s
it’s like to be a Beta. Way to go Lady Bearcats!
As
the last leaves begin to fall and the time for bonfires with a cup of hot
chocolate arrives, so does our 2018 South Carolina state convention. The National
Beta Club state convention is hosted annually in Myrtle Beach. This year the
dates are February 8-11, 2018. Our goal this year is to have at least 40 Beta
members from all grades to attend state, representing Rock Hill High School.
Words can’t truly explain the wonderful experience gained at state convention. There are competitions
that fit everyone’s character and abilities; see Mrs. T (A-230) for a list of
all available competitions. If you aren’t sure about competing this year, you
can make this your vacation to relax and be part of a terrific experience. #ROHIBETA
boys, we know you are out there, so please join us on this learning adventure
as well. If you know of any other Betas with killer special talents or mad
knowledge skills, send them our way! If you missed our convention night
informational meeting last week, check out link to the meeting from
Remind/Twitter/Facebook posts for cost, details, and available competitions.
For further questions feel to contact our club sponsors or officers.
As
always, don’t forget to check out the calendar for upcoming service
opportunities and meet the requirements
to maintain the status of an RHHS Beta. All members need to complete an event,
charity, and fundraiser, as well as maintain at least a 3.75 GPA before the end
of 1st semester.
